Studio executives almost gave up on this low-budget science-fiction movie about retirees in Florida, even firing director Robert Zemeckis after a year on the job. What Ron Howard completed though was a heartfelt family film that about aliens who took those retirees to a place where "we'll never be sick, we won't get any older and we won't ever die." "Cocoon" premiered on June 21, 1985.
