Director J.J. Abrams grew up with many of the same influences as other genre fiction fans. They all came together for his film "Super 8" which was released on June 10, 2011, bringing together elements of horror and science fiction. It wasn't just Abrams' love letter to Steven Spielberg either; the legendary producer/director himself was there to help along the way.
